The following is but a partial list of things and pictures from the 1996 MST3K Convention.
If you've heard and read a lot about the MST3K Conventio-con II: Electric Bugaloo that was held Friday, August 30th to Monday, September 2nd, 1996 and still want more information you have come to the page dedicated to that very momentous occasion. About 2,300 MSTies (MSTies are fans who spend a phenomenal amount of time and energy enjoying one of the greatest shows ever made, Mystery Science Theater 3000)from around the country gathered at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Did Anything 'odd' happen?
Did anything odd happen?
Several 'odd' things happened, here are a few of my favorite moments, most of which I have frame grabbed off my videotape. First odd thing, perhaps it was just an oversight as I doubt Kevin Murphy would have done it on purpose but when Trace Beaulieu went to shake his hand it sure looked like he snubbed him and ignored the handshake. Trace who was leaving the show after it was picked up by the SCI-FI channel sure looked kind of confused and perhaps upset by the no handshake after Kevin ignored his hand and walked on by him. I included a frame grab from my tape just after it happened. Trace looks kinda stunned.

Another 'odd' thing was during the Kim Catrall (featured in episode 403- City Limits), about midway into the panel discussion which included also Russell Johnson (The Professor from "Gilligan's Island" and co-star of "This Island Earth") and Rex Reason (star of "This Island Earth"). Anyway the oddest and sweetest moment of the whole convention was when Trace ran up and gave Kim a dozen red roses after she explained about how she had fallen in love with Crow T. Robot. Yes, I included a still frame of that as well.

There were lots of other 'odd' moments I caught on tape, way to many to mention. But when Mike Nelson was attacked by Jet Jaguar during the costume contest it was toooooooooo cute. Yes I included some freeze frames of that too.

What else happened?
One room at BEST BRAINS Studios featured a "museum" of memorable props and costumes from the series. Several pictures are of items from this room.
The Friday night keynote event featured the entire cast and writing staff discussing the early days of the show, showing slides and answering questions from the audience. A few pictures of this as well on the photo page.

This site is dedicated to giving a glimpse into the 1996 Convention

I'll be rotating pictures from the convention when I get a chance but my videotape is 6 hours long so it takes alot of work to get them online, so be patient and maybe in another month or so I can add to the collection. Also this site only allows so many pics at one time, storage capacity problems. (Whaddaya want for nuthin?) Also, if you have any pics from the convention you'd like to see included you can send them to me via e-mail. Can't promise I'll be able to use them but if I can I will.

How did I get so many pictures?
How did I get so many pictures?
A friend and I took turns with my camcorder and we recorded 6 hours of footage, including the opening comments from Jim Mallon, The Farewell video of Trace, Assigment Venezuela, The Storm Shelter Sequence and Original Ending to MST3K THE MOVIE, The celebrity panel featured Kim Catrall (featured in episode 403- City Limits), Russell Johnson (The Professor from "Gilligan's Island" and co-star of "This Island Earth") and Rex Reason (star of "This Island Earth"). The costume contest, all of it. And many many other things, but no nudity.

No hand shake for Trace? Hmmmm...
I'm sure Kevin just didn't see Trace ready to shake his hand but maybe Kevin did snub him. The world may never know.
